RECEIPT BUT IN BLACK - World leaders were also present, from Joe Biden, to the presidents and premier of the EU, with the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinta Ardern. Also present was Olena Zelenska, wife of the Ukrainian president, who had met Kate Princess of Wales in the afternoon. The guests (except Biden) arrived on shuttles provided by the building. The same ones who will take them to the state funeral in Westminster today. The evening started at 7pm Italian time with drinks and canape in the gallery of paintings at Buckingham Palace. Dress code: elegant but not for the evening. Black recommended. The summit of the century allows King Charles to present himself to the world as a credible and capable leader and to weave diplomatic relations for his future reign. Rarely has the Palace organized such an important evening, with such illustrious participants. At 9 pm (8 pm in London) a minute of silence was observed, at the Palace and throughout the kingdom and in many Commonwealth countries. The world has stopped for Elizabeth. Everyone is here for her, like Nelson Mandela in 2013.
THE SUSSEX-GATE - More than the reception itself, the English newspapers have dealt with the strange case of the Dukes of Sussex, first invited and then uninvited in the press. According to a reconstruction by the Daily Telegraph, Harry and Meghan were asked to participate as soon as they landed in Great Britain. But the guest list had been compiled some time ago, before the Megxit and their escape to the USA. Realizing the gaffe, the Palace officials rectified and let those concerned know that the summit was reserved only for royalty who work full-time. Too bad, however, that in the meantime the newspapers had already revealed the error. Yet another humiliation for Harry. That at the wake for his grandmother he had been able to wear the uniform, but on one of the insignia the figure of the sovereign EIIR (Queen Elizabeth II) had been removed. Everyone else, even Prince Andrew, wore it. Harry had even thought of giving up the uniform, then changed his mind at the last moment. But he is 'heartbroken' according to the Daily Mail.
