THE ACCUSATIONS - Both were accused of issuing false invoices: these were two invoices for a total of 160 thousand euros, issued by companies managed by the two spouses. According to the prosecution, the consultancy services paid by Dagostino for some projects had never actually been carried out. In the first instance, the prime minister's parents were sentenced to one year and nine months and Dagostino to two years. And the Attorney General had asked for confirmation of the sentence. But according to the Court of Appeal, Tiziano and Laura did not break the law: 'We are very satisfied and happy with this full acquittal. – they commented – We have always believed in justice and finally justice has arrived.”

THE DIFFERENT - In the courtroom Laura had said: “I have never made false invoices. I trust the law. I believe that the law is the same for everyone, even for those called Renzi. My husband is well versed in business but he understands nothing in administration. I take full responsibility for the 20,000 euro invoice made by Party for a very specific job that should have been developed: to attract customers to those little-frequented shops in The Mall outlet. And he added: “While we were engaged in the process, I discovered that the Florence prosecutor's office had a parallel investigation in which I was accused of trafficking in influence. This alleged crime was filed in April 2022, two years after the conviction we are discussing on appeal, it would have been committed once again with Dagostino. I would have helped him by committing the crime of trafficking in influence and this would have justified the payment of the invoice that is the subject of today's trial. Invoice that would be false because it was issued to cover another service, the theoretically illicit one that is the subject of the trafficking of influences', alleged crime however filed.
